General Maintenance Technician

About the role

Amentum is hiring a General Maintenance Technician for its client site in Durham, NC. The role covers daily support activities, repairs and preventative maintenance, with a Monday to Friday schedule of 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, though hours may vary with business demand. The pay is $24-$29 per hour, depending on education, experience and market data.

Key responsibilities

• Perform minor inspections of work performed and general building condition under the direction of a supervisor or skilled tradesperson.
• Carry out repairs such as replacing floor tile, light bulbs, painting, patching and drywall, and replace ceiling and ceramic bathroom tiles.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, pressure washing, and repair of lockers, sheet metal and tile.
• Use hand tools safely and efficiently, and operate equipment for woodwork, furniture and flooring.
• Clean worksites, haul debris to the dumpster and store tools and equipment properly.
• Inspect buildings, plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances and major equipment, checking for cracks, excessive wear and faulty parts.
• Document all work in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and comply with safety requirements, including respirator fit testing and wearing PPE.

Required profile

• 3 years of maintenance experience in general construction, painting or general maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 years of progressive experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, biomedical or R&D facility maintenance.
• US citizenship or permanent residency is required for facility credentials; no sponsorship is offered.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and scaffolding, and work at an accelerated pace in emergencies.
• Preferred: technical degree, GMP or regulated environment experience, and experience with CMMS (EAMS a plus).

Required skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
• Ability to read repair manuals, schematics and drawings.
• Preferred: experience with steam systems, chillers, air handling units, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, building automation and pneumatic controls.
