Gas & Chemical Technical Facilities Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Gas & Chemical Technical Facilities Engineer to lead the planning, design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of gas and chemical distribution systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee operations, maintenance, and safety of gas & chemical distribution systems to ensure maximum uptime.
• Monitor third‑party maintenance providers, report KPIs, and coordinate with planning, construction, safety, building owners and management to minimize downtime.
• Respond to business interruptions, perform root‑cause analysis using 8D methodology, and ensure systems operate to design specifications.
• Evaluate system capacity, recommend improvements, and manage budget spending and supplier invoices.
• Review and approve construction, fit‑up, and tool hook‑up designs, and provide technical direction to design engineers throughout project phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• 2‑5 years of semiconductor or high‑purity hazardous gas facilities management experience (or 7+ years facilities management).
• Experience with industrial gas and chemical delivery and knowledge of local fire, building and environmental codes.
• Strong analytical skills with familiarity with SPC, 8D, DMAIC and FMEA.

• PLC‑based control systems.
• Gas distribution system knowledge.
• MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD.
• CMMS platforms such as IBM Maximo.
• SPC, 8D, DMAIC, FMEA methodologies.
