Full-Time Police Dispatcher

About the role

The Dispatcher works in the telecommunications division, handling emergency and non‑emergency calls, coordinating police and other response units, and maintaining accurate records. This full‑time position supports public safety by ensuring timely and precise communication between callers, dispatch staff, and field personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Operate 911 communications equipment to assess and prioritize incoming service requests.
• Enter accurate data into the Record Management System and Computer‑Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
• Determine incident location, required agency involvement, and appropriate response codes.
• Dispatch police, fire, tow trucks, public works, and other services as needed.
• Monitor CCTV feeds, radios, and telephone lines, maintaining logs of all communications.
• Provide continuous updates to responding personnel and coordinate inter‑agency communication.
• Compose and edit reports, memoranda, and other correspondence related to dispatch activities.

Required profile

• Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high‑stress situations.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and record keeping.
• Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with callers and emergency responders.
• Capacity to work rotating shifts and respond to urgent incidents at any time.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 911 communications equipment.
• Experience using Computer‑Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
• Familiarity with Record Management Systems.
• Ability to monitor and operate CCTV surveillance equipment.
• Radio communications operation.
