About the role

The Outpatient Scheduling Representative is responsible for financially clearing outpatient referrals. This includes validating orders, checking medical necessity, verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations, scheduling procedures, pre‑registration, and communicating financial responsibilities to patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Validate outpatient orders, check medical necessity and verify insurance eligibility.
  • Obtain required authorizations and schedule procedures or visits in the appropriate department or location.
  • Pre‑register patients, update demographic information and ensure accuracy of 98% or higher.
  • Communicate co‑pay and deductible responsibilities to patients and document collections.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the patient chart, including scanned documents and communication notes.

Required profile

  • High school diploma/GED (or 2‑5 years of healthcare experience in lieu of education).
  • At least six months of progressive work experience, preferably one year in hospital outpatient scheduling or insurance verification.
