Full-Time Academic Palliative Care Physician

About the role

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and LSU Health Sciences Center‑Shreveport are seeking a board‑certified/eligible Palliative Medicine Physician to join the Department of Medicine. The position involves practicing and teaching core palliative care skills to improve quality of life for patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance quality of life for patients and families facing serious illness.
• Address complex symptom management, including pain control.
• Provide psychosocial, existential, and spiritual support.
• Assist with communication, advanced care planning, and end‑of‑life decision making.
• Ensure continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, and hospice settings.
• Coordinate care among multidisciplinary providers and facilitate information exchange.

Required profile

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Palliative Medicine.
• Eligible for a Louisiana medical license.
• Commitment to academic teaching, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
