About the role

The Language Doctors, Inc. is expanding its network of on‑site interpreters in New York. This freelance position offers experienced interpreters the chance to support a variety of client appointments across multiple industries, handling both one‑time and short‑notice requests.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate consecutive (and simultaneous when required) interpretation on site while maintaining confidentiality.
• Arrive punctually, follow client or site procedures, and stay for the full duration of each appointment.
• Confirm assignments promptly and keep The Language Doctors informed of scheduling, check‑in details, and any issues.
• Adhere to professional codes of ethics, including impartiality and confidentiality.
• Complete onboarding steps and required documentation for each assignment.

Required profile

• Professional fluency in English and at least one additional language.
• Minimum of one year of professional interpreting experience in any sector (medical, legal, education, corporate, etc.).
• Strong punctuality, responsiveness, and clear communication.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the designated coverage area.
• Interpreter training or certification is preferred but not mandatory for all assignments.
