Fraud Strategy Manager – Onboarding

About the role

Cardless is seeking a Fraud Strategy Manager (or Senior Manager) to own the end‑to‑end onboarding fraud strategy. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will shape the decisioning framework that determines applicant approvals, reviews, or declines while ensuring tools, data, and processes are best‑in‑class.

Key responsibilities

• Define and operate the manual review program, including routing logic, SLA design, analyst tooling, and escalation paths.
• Lead the integration of alternative data signals—bank account data, device intelligence, and partner sources—into onboarding decisions.
• Own the fraud rules framework for onboarding, collaborating with data science to translate model outputs into operational policy.
• Establish and monitor KPI framework for onboarding fraud, conduct portfolio reviews, and build real‑time reporting.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and Customer Operations to align fraud strategy with system requirements and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience in fraud strategy, identity risk, or credit risk within a financial institution, fintech, or payments company.
• Deep expertise in onboarding fraud, including synthetic identities, identity manipulation, and deposit/funding fraud.
• Hands‑on experience with bank data providers and familiarity with device intelligence and behavioral fraud platforms.
• Strong SQL skills for building, evaluating, and tracking fraud rules and performance.
• Excellent communication ability to translate complex fraud trade‑offs into clear recommendations for executives and compliance teams.
