Forward Deployed Strategist

About the role

Chalk is an AI data platform built for inference, helping customers run context and runtime for their models inside their own cloud. The Forward Deployed Strategist owns the technical direction of integrations, working alongside sales, delivery, account management and support to ensure successful deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Run technical discovery to understand customer systems, identify breakages and shipping goals.
• Advise on architecture migration paths, clearly stating risks, sequencing and non‑worthwhile work.
• Design and scope Chalk‑based solutions, setting standards for correctness, latency and cost.
• Lead tight proof‑of‑concepts, defining success criteria and preventing scope drift.
• Partner with sales, delivery and support to keep technical direction coherent from pre‑sale through live operation.

Required profile

• Deep experience with production infrastructure and how live traffic failures occur.
• Proven track record advising engineering teams on systems you didn’t build.
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to defend architectural decisions.
• Ability to scope POCs that prove a single hypothesis and say no to unfocused work.
• Willingness to give customers hard‑truth feedback, even when it’s unwelcome.
• Excellent communication, storytelling and analytical skills.
