About the role
The Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah is seeking three qualified Forensic Psychologists to join its adult forensic services team. Working under the supervision of the hospital forensic director, you will conduct criminal forensic evaluations and contribute to the treatment and recovery planning of patients.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct court‑ordered pre‑trial forensic psychological evaluations to determine competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and violence risk.
- Perform forensic risk assessments and a variety of psychological tests, including malingering, intellectual, and personality assessments.
- Facilitate group treatment sessions and psycho‑educational interventions.
- Develop and document individualized recovery (treatment) plans and track progress.
- Prepare expert reports and provide testimony in legal settings.
- Supervise mental health counselors and contribute to behavioral programming.
- Complete the state’s Competency to Stand Trial certification within one year of hire.
Required profile
- Advanced knowledge of abnormal psychology, relevant statutes, case law, and ethical guidelines for forensic psychology.
- Licensed (temporary, provisional, or permanent) or license‑eligible to practice in Georgia.
- Experience conducting forensic mental health evaluations and risk assessments.
- Ability to obtain state certification for competency evaluations within the required timeframe.
Required skills
- Proficiency in forensic psychological assessment tools and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility standards.
- Competence in conducting group therapy and psycho‑educational sessions.
- Familiarity with ethical and professional guidelines governing forensic practice.
