Flight Line Avionics Technician – Contract (Mobile, AL)

About the role

Airbus is seeking a Flight Line Avionics Technician for its Final Assembly Line in Mobile, Alabama. The role involves performing functional test procedures, pre‑ and post‑flight inspections, and preparing aircraft for test‑flight readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Execute aircraft system Functional Test Procedure (FTP) and daily pre/post‑flight inspections.
• Prepare built aircraft for test‑flight readiness and support flight‑line operations.
• Troubleshoot aircraft systems and apply new techniques as needed.
• Utilise specialised aircraft tools, test equipment and measurement devices.
• Operate support equipment such as cranes, cherry‑pickers, forklifts and lifting platforms.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in avionics or related applied science.
• A&P or FCC licence (or ability to obtain a Repairman Certificate).
• Valid driver’s licence and passport for unrestricted travel.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) and at least 5 years aviation experience, preferably in manufacturing or MRO.
• Basic computer skills (e.g., Google applications).

Required skills

• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical theory applied to aircraft systems.
• Ability to read and interpret aircraft diagrams, schematics and maintenance procedures (AMM/IPC/AWD/SB).
• Proficiency with aircraft‑specific tools: torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and powered/non‑powered support equipment.
• Use of standard and specialised hand tools, power equipment and measuring devices.
• Operation of lifting equipment such as cranes, cherry‑pickers, forklifts and lifting platforms.
