Fire/Life Safety Inspector & Emergency Management Coordinator

About the role

Join dss+ as a Fire/Life Safety (FLS) Inspector and Emergency Management Coordinator supporting the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system. You will work closely with BART’s Department of Fire/Life Safety, local fire agencies, and first responders to ensure safety and emergency preparedness across the network.

Key responsibilities

• Support BART’s Fire/Life Safety department with day‑to‑day facility inspections, coordinating with fire and emergency agencies.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities, including drills, meetings, documentation, and action‑item tracking.
• Participate in fire/accident investigations, prepare reports, and manage non‑conformance issues to closure.
• Assist in developing, updating, and reviewing FLS and emergency response policies, plans, and training programs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of relevant experience in fire/life safety inspection or emergency management.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience/certifications).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass dss+ and BART security background investigations.
• Willingness to travel locally within the Bay Area and drive to various sites.

Required skills

• Knowledge of FLS facility inspections and emergency management planning.
• Familiarity with Bay Area jurisdictions and BART operations.
• Experience coordinating with local first responders and agencies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, SharePoint, etc.).
