Financial Forensic Auditor 3

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Insurance Department is seeking a Financial Forensic Auditor 3 to lead and conduct investigations of fraud, financial abuse, and related crimes. The auditor will support the Criminal Investigations Division by analyzing complex financial records and providing expert testimony.

Key responsibilities

• Examine financial evidence of alleged crimes under broad supervision.
• Lead and conduct investigations of insurance fraud, white‑collar crimes, and money laundering.
• Prepare spreadsheets, charts, and audit reports for presentations and courtroom testimony.
• Perform advanced forensic analysis of financial processes and systems.
• Review and evaluate complex financial records, journal entries, and supporting documentation.
• Conduct forensic audits to detect improprieties in revenues, expenses, and accruals.
• Analyze third‑party audit data and produce detailed findings.
• Collaborate with law‑enforcement agents, attorneys, and division investigators.
• Assess compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and related statutes.
• Develop investigation plans and utilize financial investigative software.
• Testify at grand juries, hearings, and trials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum two years of experience at the Financial Forensic Auditor 2 level or equivalent.
• Knowledge of state and federal accounting statutes and regulations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for report preparation and testimony.
