Financial Controller – Food Manufacturing

About the role

The company, a privately held food business, is looking for a Financial Controller to lead corporate financial strategy. The role combines plant‑level accounting, cost variance management, and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inventory & Cost Accounting: Track landed costs (shipping, duties, tariffs, customs), manage inventory valuations and reconcile stock records.
• Financial Reporting: Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month‑end / year‑end close processes.
• Cash Flow & Treasury: Manage foreign‑exchange risk, banking relationships and cash‑flow forecasting for large international vendor payments.
• Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to GAAP or IFRS, sales‑tax obligations and food‑import regulatory financial standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5‑10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably within food, beverage, CPG, manufacturing or import/distribution.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, especially NetSuite.
• Strong knowledge of landed‑cost accounting.
• Experience in cash‑flow forecasting and foreign‑exchange risk management.
• Familiarity with GAAP/IFRS compliance and inventory valuation.
