About the role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function and partner closely with HR. The role combines full‑cycle accounting responsibilities with oversight of employee benefit programs, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and manage the finance department, integrating financial and HR processes.
- Maintain the integrity of financial data in the accounting system and prepare monthly/quarterly statements.
- Oversee fixed‑asset records, property tax filings, and annual audit coordination.
- Administer 401(k) profit‑sharing plans, including deferral accuracy, withdrawals, and loan requests.
- Review and approve employee expense reports, health, life, disability, and other insurance billings.
- Handle COBRA and state benefit continuation for separated employees.
- Prepare year‑end closing and provide tax reporting information for third‑party preparers.
- Serve as backup for the CFO and support annual financial statement audits.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, tax, or financial auditing.
- Proven ability to present financial information to non‑financial audiences.
- Strong communication skills and flexibility to manage last‑minute changes.
Required skills
- Proficiency with QuickBooks.
