Financial Analyst – Portfolio & Spend Management

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a highly analytical Portfolio Analyst for the Etch product group to support spend management, financial analysis and forecasting. The role partners with engineering, program management, operations and finance teams to drive accurate forecasts and provide insights for strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Actively participate in portfolio spend management and forecasting against budget, approved funding and financial targets.
• Deliver high‑quality financial analysis to support spending optimization and effective resource allocation.
• Develop and maintain financial models for month‑end close, forecasting and planning cycles (AOP, QRAM, QBR).
• Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate funding changes, resource constraints and schedule impacts.
• Support continuous improvement of forecasting processes, tools and financial governance.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency and integrity of portfolio planning assumptions and deliver timely forecasts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics or a related field.
• Prior experience in technology, manufacturing or related industries preferred.
• Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to improve financial workflows.
• Strong analytical, forecasting/modeling, problem‑solving and quantitative skills.
• Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize workload effectively.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of planning and reporting tools (SAP, Tableau, Anaplan) preferred.
