Field Service Technician Trainee (AMS)

About the role

The Field Service Technician Trainee (AMS) will learn basic maintenance, troubleshooting, installation and commissioning of gas compression packages under direct supervision. This entry‑level position provides hands‑on experience with rotating equipment and prepares the trainee for progression to Service Technician I.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, calibrate and monitor prime movers, compressors, electric motors, generators, fans, pumps and related instrumentation.
• Execute start‑up, shut‑down and operating procedures for compressors and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoot major and minor repairs on engines, compressors, generators, pumps and control components such as governors, actuators, starters and voltage regulators.
• Perform oil and coolant analysis for engines and compressors.
• Assist with rebuilds, overhauls and tune‑up of equipment to meet company and customer standards.
• Maintain tools, truck and workspace in good condition and complete work orders with accurate documentation.

Required profile

• No prior experience required; one year of applicable experience is preferred.
• Willingness to learn under the guidance of senior technicians and follow established safety and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to pass GE Waukesha GET certification and complete GE Waukesha/Ariel compressor fundamentals training.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers, contractors and vendors.

• Operation of air/fuel‑ratio controllers and emission control devices.
• Data entry proficiency for work order documentation.
