About the role
The Field Service Technician III is a senior field professional who leads advanced assembly, maintenance, testing, diagnostics, and repair of transformers and high‑voltage substation equipment. Working with minimal supervision, you will support complex projects, troubleshoot issues, and mentor junior technicians across the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Model and enforce safe work practices, PPE requirements, and company safety policies.
- Lead transformer testing, installation, maintenance, and emergency repairs on high‑voltage apparatus.
- Install, test, and maintain electrical equipment such as breakers, switches, arresters, and control cabinets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during diagnostics and testing.
- Interpret test results and develop field testing plans.
- Operate oil‑processing and vacuum rigs, including dry‑out procedures.
- Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and support project execution.
Required profile
- Several years of hands‑on experience with transformer services and high‑voltage equipment.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and ability to lead safety compliance on site.
- Proven ability to work independently and guide less‑experienced team members.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work onsite in various locations.
Required skills
- Transformer testing (TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance, power‑factor testing, oil analysis).
- Oil processing and vacuum rig operation.
- High‑voltage apparatus installation and maintenance.
- Diagnostic testing and result interpretation.
- Use of mobile oil‑processing units.
