Field Service Technician II – Gas Compression

About the role

This position supports basic to advanced maintenance of gas compression packages, working under general guidance while learning from senior technicians. The role involves troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning of both gas‑fired and electric‑driven compressors, with the goal of progressing to senior technical levels.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Enerflex professionally and deliver outstanding customer service.
• Submit accurate field service reports, expense reports, and timesheets daily.
• Provide basic leadership and training to new field technicians.
• Diagnose engine and compressor failures independently and efficiently.
• Travel multi‑state on short notice, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform rebuilds and overhauls of compressors, engines, and controls in the field under adverse conditions.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, basic controls, and unit control panels such as Murphy and Altronic.
• Conduct engine tuning to adjust performance and emissions on CAT and Waukesha equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical experience preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant field service experience.
• Certification from CAT or Waukesha (or equivalent) including CAT Gas I, CAT Gas II, CAT Electrical, Ariel Basic, Ariel Mechanical, CAT 3500 ADEM III, CAT 3500ULB, and Waukesha VHP.

Required skills

• Engine and compressor failure diagnosis.
• Electrical system and control panel troubleshooting (Murphy, Altronic).
• Engine tuning for CAT and Waukesha units.
• Mechanical inspection using micrometers, pressure gauges, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Proficiency with rebuilds/overhauls of gas compression packages.
