Field Service Technician 4

About the role

Dematic is seeking a Regional Field Service Technician 4 with a focus on controls to provide service, repair, and training for installed Dematic systems across North America. The role involves extensive travel and aims to maximize system availability and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in semi‑complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs and overhauls.
• Train customers on semi‑complex products and services.
• Install and adjust PLCs, sensors, and other controls using various vendor software.
• Perform semi‑complex maintenance on tools and test equipment, documenting all inspections and repairs.
• Respond to semi‑complex service calls and assess equipment performance for improvements.

Required profile

• Trade school graduate or associate’s degree in a mechanical/electrical technician program; bachelor’s in engineering preferred.
• Minimum two years of troubleshooting electromechanical or mechanical equipment, preferably material handling equipment.
• Willingness to travel over 80% of the time, including weekends, holidays, and off‑hours.
• Ability to work in stressful situations, write clear trip reports, and lift/move up to 50 lb.

Required skills

• Programming and troubleshooting of PLCs.
• Use of controls software from multiple vendors.
• Experience with sensors, AGVs, AS/RS, conveyors.
• Proficiency with PC word processing, databases, communications, and hardware/software configuration.
