Field Operations Supervisor

About the role

Maryland Environmental Service is seeking a Field Operations Supervisor for its Montgomery County Grinding Operations facility in Derwood, MD. This night‑shift position oversees on‑site grinding operations, operating heavy equipment to process brush and yard waste while ensuring safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and direct daily facility operations and production activities.
• Supervise on‑site grinding operations, operating wheel loaders, excavators, and horizontal grinders.
• Maintain operational records and report production activities and site conditions to management.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental regulations, and company policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least one year of supervisory experience in field operations, recycling/solid waste, or construction.
• Six years of experience operating heavy equipment, or six years of progressively responsible heavy‑equipment operation experience.
• Valid driver’s license with fewer than five points.
• Ability to complete OSHA 10‑hour General Industry training and attend supervisory training within six months.

Required skills

• Operation of wheel loaders, excavators, and horizontal grinders.
• Reading and executing plans, interpreting construction specifications.
• Knowledge of facility‑specific specialized machinery.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
