Field Environmental Manager – Utility-Scale Solar

About the role

The Field Environmental Manager will lead environmental compliance and performance at utility‑scale solar construction sites, ensuring adherence to federal, state and local regulations, permits and sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor compliance with environmental regulations, permits and site‑specific plans such as SWPPP, SPCC, dust control and wildlife protection.
• Perform routine site inspections and audits, identify risks and recommend improvements.
• Monitor and document compliance with NPDES permits and related regulations.
• Coordinate environmental training, toolbox talks and maintain comprehensive records.
• Act as liaison with project teams, consultants, permitting agencies and inspectors.
• Support vegetation management, wildlife mitigation and cultural/archaeological preservation.
• Assist in resolving compliance issues through field adjustments and mitigation strategies.
• Provide ongoing environmental reporting to corporate compliance teams and clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Natural Resources or related field.
• 3+ years of environmental compliance experience in construction, energy or infrastructure; utility‑scale solar experience preferred.
• Knowledge of EPA, NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and state/local permitting.
• Ability to read and interpret environmental permits, site plans and technical drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote project sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SWPPP and NPDES requirements and BMP implementation.
• Experience with GIS, drones or digital inspection tools.
