About the role
Applied Materials is seeking a FIB/TEM Systems Engineer to own and improve semiconductor metrology equipment. You will be the technical authority for assigned tools, ensuring reliable, high‑performance operation while supporting product development and manufacturing.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain equipment performance standards, operating procedures, and preventive‑maintenance strategies.
- Plan and execute installation, calibration, qualification, and acceptance testing for new and existing tools.
- Lead complex troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, vacuum, controls, software and automation systems, and drive root‑cause analysis.
- Analyze reliability data, establish KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, uptime) and implement improvement road‑maps.
- Coordinate with OEM suppliers, manage service contracts, and evaluate vendor technical capabilities.
- Produce and maintain documentation such as operating procedures, qualification reports, and compliance records.
- Lead equipment upgrade, retrofit and lab‑expansion projects, providing risk assessments and status reporting.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, Physics, Materials Science or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years experience supporting semiconductor metrology, analytical or R&D equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, vacuum, controls and automation systems.
- Proven ability to perform root‑cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- FIB, TEM, SEM, Atomic Probe Tomography, thin‑film deposition systems.
- Vacuum systems, controls, automation, and equipment monitoring tools.
- SEMI E10 equipment reliability standards and SPC methodologies.
- Reliability engineering, lean manufacturing, and continuous‑improvement techniques.
- Data‑analytics tools for equipment performance analysis.
