Family Treatment Program Practicum (Unpaid Internship)

About the role

The Family Treatment Program Practicum offers graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in psychology or related programs an opportunity to gain hands‑on clinical experience within the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Family Treatment Clinic. Under direct supervision of licensed psychologists, you will participate in a variety of therapeutic and assessment activities while contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessment interviews with clients and families.
• Perform psychosexual or registration risk assessment interviews.
• Provide individual, family, group, and multifamily therapy sessions.
• Participate in intra‑agency and multi‑agency staffing meetings.
• Prepare clinical reports and progress notes for each contact.
• Assist with psychological testing, focusing on trauma‑related measures.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a psychology, counseling, social work, or related graduate/undergraduate program.
• Completion of prerequisite coursework in clinical assessment and therapy techniques.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Vaccinated against COVID‑19 or holding an approved exemption.
