Facility Security Officer – Central State Hospital

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Facility Security Officer to protect Central State Hospital in Milledgeville. Under general supervision, you will monitor the premises, respond to emergencies, and ensure a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Escort or drive individuals to designated locations while providing personal protection.
• Inspect assigned areas for fire or environmental hazards.
• Monitor and authorize entry and exit of employees, visitors, and other persons.
• Patrol the facility to detect intrusion and secure doors, windows, and gates.
• Respond to fires, natural disasters, or other hazardous events.
• Warn and, if necessary, apprehend or evict rule violators.
• Write daily activity and incident reports.

Required profile

• Ability to pass drug screening, TB test, and annual influenza vaccination (exemptions may apply).
• Willingness to undergo any additional evaluations or certifications required by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
• Physical capability to patrol the facility and respond to emergencies.
