About the role
The Eye Care Technician supports optometrists and ophthalmologists by preparing patients for examinations, performing preliminary tests, and ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the clinic. This position is essential for delivering high‑quality eye care and maintaining a safe, organized environment.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations and explain preliminary testing procedures.
- Perform all required preliminary and doctor‑requested tests.
- Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists during patient procedures.
- Coordinate scheduling, monitor patient flow, and communicate any delays.
- Maintain a clean exam room, manage instrument sanitation, and keep inventory of medications and supplies.
- Provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the office manager or physicians.
Required profile
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical work.
- Capable of lifting up to 15 lb from floor to waist, 5 lb to shoulder, and 5 lb overhead.
- Good visual acuity to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of work.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and staff.
