Exhibitions Manager

About the role

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks an experienced, highly organized museum professional to serve as Exhibitions Manager. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this role coordinates all aspects of temporary and traveling exhibitions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the overall project lifecycle of temporary and traveling exhibitions, from concept through installation.
• Negotiate and oversee exhibition-related contracts with curators, registrars, designers, fabricators, and partner institutions.
• Develop, monitor, and report on exhibition budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Public Programs, Education, Visitor Experience, and Advancement.
• Create and maintain detailed exhibition records and manuals outlining installation guidelines.
• Market and manage the traveling exhibitions program, acting as primary liaison and courier during installations.
• Assist the Deputy Director with planning the forward exhibition schedule.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of exhibition management experience in a museum setting.
• Working knowledge of museum best practices and procedures.
• Undergraduate degree or higher in museum studies, arts administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency with project management software platforms.
• A keen appreciation for and understanding of the Skirball Cultural Center’s mission.
