Executive Underwriter – US Property

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated insurance professional for a U.S.-based hybrid or remote role reporting to the Head of U.S. Property. This individual will play a pivotal role in the development, launch, and expansion of our U.S. E&S Property portfolio. It is a unique opportunity to help build a modern, agile E&S Property platform from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Drive high‑volume production by efficiently sourcing, triaging, and underwriting a large flow of E&S Property submissions across all risk sizes and complexities.
• Engage daily with wholesale brokers to generate submission flow, expand trading relationships, and attend industry events.
• Rapidly triage and prioritize incoming opportunities, applying underwriting judgment, CAT insights, and pricing tools to determine structure, attachment strategy, and terms.
• Negotiate and issue quotes, bind and authorize accounts within delegated underwriting authority.
• Maintain underwriting discipline by adhering to guidelines, appetite, and risk‑selection standards while meeting production goals.
• Help develop and refine underwriting processes, tools, and workflows to support a fast‑moving, high‑volume environment.
• Mentor new team members as the portfolio grows.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as an underwriter, primarily in E&S Property, with exposure to primary, excess, shared, layered, and quota‑share structures.
• Proven ability to produce profitable results in a fast‑paced, high‑volume underwriting environment.
• Strong technical expertise in E&S Property risk drivers, including natural catastrophe exposure, construction types, and regional market dynamics.
• Established relationships within the wholesale broker community and a track record of expanding trading relationships.
• Excellent underwriting judgment, balancing objective analytics (CAT modeling, pricing tools, exposure metrics) with subjective market intelligence.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to process large volumes of submissions without sacrificing quality.
