Executive Underwriter

About the role

Shepherd is a technology‑driven Managing General Underwriter transforming commercial Property & Casualty insurance for high‑hazard industries. The Executive Underwriter will lead underwriting of new business and renewals, leveraging data and automation to deliver faster, smarter decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and negotiate price, coverage, terms and conditions for new business and renewals.
• Identify and target accounts that fit Shepherd’s underwriting appetite.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive new business development and producer management.
• Apply risk analysis, compliance, and pricing strategies to construction and casualty portfolios.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of commercial underwriting experience (construction, casualty, or builder’s risk preferred).
• Strong work ethic, self‑motivated, able to manage multiple projects.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with high EQ.
• Proven sales and marketing ability to position accounts and close deals.

Required skills

• Risk analysis and underwriting of construction and casualty insurance.
• Knowledge of compliance, coverage, product and pricing strategies.
