Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

About the role

Colden is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join its hybrid New York City team. You will work on consulting projects for a variety of client sites, supporting industrial hygiene, safety, and environmental health initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct industrial hygiene surveys, including personal breathing zone sampling for airborne contaminants and noise monitoring.
• Perform indoor environmental quality investigations and sampling.
• Carry out safety and health assessments, inspections, and audits across diverse settings such as manufacturing plants, laboratories, hospitals, and media productions.
• Prepare written reports summarizing site observations and results.
• Research occupational health topics and reference standards like OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and ISO.
• Develop or update health and safety procedures and training materials, and deliver training at client sites.
• Check performance of local exhaust ventilation and other engineering controls.
• Support internal industrial hygiene monitoring and safety equipment inventory.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, environmental health, public health, or a related science/engineering discipline.
• 2‑5 years of professional experience in health and safety roles.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industrial hygiene exposure monitoring practices.
• Self‑motivated, reliable, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel as project needs dictate.
