Entry-Level Product Safety Engineer – Santa Clara

About the role

The Product Safety Engineer supports design, evaluation and compliance of Applied Materials products, ensuring they meet safety requirements for customers, employees and the environment. This entry‑level position works within cross‑functional teams and receives mentorship from senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in cross‑functional risk assessments (FMEA, FTA, HazOp, SEMI S10) for new technologies.
• Support product safety analysis, design reviews and compliance evaluations against industry standards and regulations.
• Investigate safety incidents, track corrective actions and maintain documentation for audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Safety or related engineering discipline.
• 0‑2 years of experience; internship in product safety or equipment engineering preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with FMEA, FTA, HazOp, SEMI S10 and 8D methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Understanding of semiconductor equipment safety standards (e.g., SEMI S2/S8/S10, NFPA 79, IEC 61010‑1).
