Entry-Level Accountant (Accountant I)

About the role

The Accountant I provides support for receiving and disbursing university funds, recording financial transactions, and generating routine financial reports under the direction of the General Accounting and Reporting Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Perform various accounting duties, including processing payments, receipts, and journal entries.
• Prepare routine financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze financial and statistical data to support decision‑making.
• Maintain accurate records in integrated financial systems.

Required profile

• General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and office methods.
• Ability to interpret policies, analyze data, and solve problems.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
• Experience using query tools and integrated financial systems.
• Understanding of GAAP accounting principles.

• Salary range $4,570 – $5,250 per month (steps 1‑8), with potential up to $6,658.
