Engineering Technician

About the role

Applied Materials seeks an Engineering Technician to design, test, fabricate, and troubleshoot electro‑mechanical systems used in semiconductor and display equipment. The position is based in Santa Clara, CA and supports both new product introductions and field upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex electro‑mechanical design, prototype development, and assembly of electronic and mechanical subsystems.
• Test and troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level issues without supervision, using specialized test equipment and fixtures.
• Document test procedures, logbooks, and technical reports; assist in revising and implementing standard work.
• Conduct mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and process testing on AMAT platforms according to engineering specifications.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment, follow all safety protocols, and provide training to junior technicians.

Required profile

• Ability to work from limited or no documentation and generate clear technical documentation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface across engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Physical capability to perform demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting, and working in clean‑room environments.
