Engineering Manager, Safeguards Review Tooling

About the role

Anthropic is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Safeguards Review Tooling team. The team builds the systems that safety investigators and the Claude model use to examine potential harms and enforce policies across Anthropic’s products and third‑party platforms. You will own the tooling platform, its analytics, privacy‑preserving data access, and a sandbox for rapid prototyping, while guiding its evolution toward automation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and mentor a team of engineers developing investigation, review, and enforcement tooling for internal and external platforms.
• Define vision and roadmap for the review‑tooling platform, including analytics, privacy‑compatible data primitives, and a sandbox for new interfaces.
• Drive automation strategy, enabling reviewers to leverage Claude and building Claude‑assisted or Claude‑driven workflows.
• Collaborate with policy, operations, legal, privacy, and data‑science stakeholders to translate enforcement needs into reliable systems.
• Ensure tooling complies with evolving privacy and data‑retention commitments while maintaining user trust.
• Foster an inclusive hiring and coaching process and contribute to engineering‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and career development.
• Technical background in full‑stack or platform engineering.
