Engineering Design Specialist – Simulation-Based AI Tasks

About the role

Turing is seeking experienced engineers to create challenging, simulation‑based design problems that train and evaluate advanced AI models. The role focuses on crafting realistic engineering tasks where models must make genuine trade‑offs, size components, and iterate against physics‑based simulators to meet competing specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and validate simulation‑based engineering problems that require true design reasoning, with clear constraints and optimization goals.
• Deliver complete problem sets, including reference solutions, near‑miss variants, edge cases, and thorough documentation.
• Ensure appropriate difficulty by incorporating multiple failure modes and realistic trade‑offs.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to refine problems based on model performance and feedback.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an engineer with deep design expertise in at least one engineering domain.
• Ability to create realistic design tasks that involve genuine trade‑offs and iterative optimization.
• Strong analytical and reasoning skills to define constraints, objectives, and evaluation criteria.
• Experience working with physics‑based simulators and interpreting their outputs.
