Employment Specialist

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks an Employment Specialist to help newly arrived refugees and qualified immigrants achieve self‑sufficiency through employment. You will guide clients through job‑readiness activities, connect them with employers, and provide ongoing career support.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake, assessments, and program orientation for eligible clients.
• Develop individualized employment plans and budgeting strategies.
• Provide job‑search coaching, resume assistance, and interview preparation.
• Build and maintain relationships with local employers and staffing agencies to secure job placements.
• Assist clients and employers with post‑placement issues and monitor job performance.
• Deliver financial‑literacy education, including budgeting, banking, credit, and access to CEO loans.
• Integrate financial coaching with employment services to support income management and debt reduction.
• Document client interactions, maintain databases, and generate reports as required.
• Collaborate with coworkers, partner organizations, and service providers to enhance client outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in workforce development, preferably with refugee or immigrant populations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
