Emergency Protection Coordinator – Global Surge Team

About the role

The International Rescue Committee’s Global Surge Team seeks an Emergency Protection Coordinator to lead integrated protection programming during acute humanitarian crises. This occasional, short‑term role involves rapid deployment to support vulnerable populations with protection, child protection, gender‑based violence, and rule‑of‑law interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid protection assessments and design program start‑up plans.
• Develop strategies, proposals, and technical guidance for protection interventions.
• Oversee staff recruitment, training, and management on deployment sites.
• Manage budgets, ensure grant compliance, and coordinate with local partners.
• Provide technical oversight for social work, mental health, information services, and community risk mitigation.
