Embedded Software Verification Engineer – Surgical Robotics

About the role

Join Philips' Surgical Robotics team to verify real‑time robotics control software running on Linux/RTOS platforms. This hands‑on role defines verification strategies, designs meaningful tests from requirements, and troubleshoots software on actual hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Own verification planning and test design, creating test plans, protocols, procedures, pass/fail criteria, requirements coverage, and traceable evidence.
• Design, automate, and execute tests for software interacting with motors, sensors, actuators, and controllers on Linux/RTOS compute platforms.
• Investigate system behavior on real hardware, covering timing performance, control‑loop dynamics, fault handling, watchdogs, safe‑state transitions, startup/shutdown, recovery paths, and cross‑domain defects.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in software verification, system verification, or integration testing for hardware‑interactive products.
• Proven ability to define verification plans, test protocols, procedures, cases, and objective pass/fail criteria.
• Hands‑on experience with real‑time or timing‑sensitive software on Linux, RTOS, or Linux with real‑time extensions, above the bare‑metal driver layer.
• Comfort working in regulated or safety‑critical environments, creating traceable verification evidence and collaborating across software, systems, controls, hardware, and quality teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.
