Elementary School Judaic Studies Teacher

About the role

Sinai Akiba Academy seeks a full‑time Elementary School Judaic Studies Teacher to guide K‑5 students through Torah, Hebrew language, Jewish holidays, Israel, and Jewish history, while supporting social‑emotional learning using Responsive Classroom and RULER frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Teach the Judaic Studies curriculum, including Hebrew, Torah, chagim, tefillah, and the history and culture of Israel.
• Explain the meaning, stories, and lessons behind Jewish holidays and rituals appropriate to each developmental stage.
• Celebrate and teach Shabbat rituals weekly.
• Instill Ahavat Yisrael (Love of Israel) through symbols, songs, and Zionist teachings.
• Plan and facilitate assemblies, holiday performances, Kabbalat Shabbat, and other school events.
• Support and reinforce Hebrew language immersion.
• Maintain a classroom environment that reflects Jewish symbols, traditions, and values.
• Employ effective, innovative lesson planning and dynamic classroom teaching.

Required profile

• Commitment to the school’s religious mission and Conservative Jewish values.
• Ability to teach Hebrew and Judaic studies to elementary‑age students.
• Willingness to incorporate Responsive Classroom and RULER social‑emotional frameworks.
• Capacity to plan and lead assemblies, holiday performances, and Shabbat celebrations.
