Elementary Physical Education Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Elementary Physical Education Teacher to deliver standards‑aligned PE instruction for Kindergarten through Grade 5 at Fairmont Schools – North Tustin.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver high‑quality PE lessons fully aligned with the California Physical Education Model Content Standards for K‑5.
• Provide a minimum of 200 minutes of PE instruction every 10 school days, complying with California Education Code § 51210.
• Develop age‑appropriate units covering movement concepts, locomotor and manipulative skills, and rhythmic activities.
• Use differentiated instructional strategies to engage students of varied abilities and backgrounds.
• Create and administer formative and summative assessments, using data to refine instruction.
• Maintain safe, well‑organized learning environments across fields, courts, and indoor facilities, enforcing safety protocols and equipment ratios.
• Collaborate with grade‑level teams, cross‑curricular faculty, administration, and parents to support holistic student development.
• Model high behavioral and academic expectations, fostering responsibility, inclusivity, and sportsmanship.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Kinesiology, Physical Education or a related field.
• Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education or a Multiple Subject Credential with PE authorization.
• Experience teaching elementary physical education within California state standards.
• Commitment to the mission and high academic standards of Fairmont Schools.
• Strong classroom‑management abilities and proficiency in implementing school‑wide health and fitness benchmarks.
