Electronic Component Engineer – Space Systems (P4)

About the role

Join Oceaneering’s Electrical and Electronics Design team supporting NASA’s JETS II contract. You will work on human spaceflight and deep‑space exploration programs, providing critical electronic component expertise to ensure mission success.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of Electronics Component Engineers across multiple NASA projects.
• Provide EEE parts support, evaluate parts lists, and report reliability to the EEE Parts Control Board.
• Recommend replacements, assist in failure investigations, and develop qualification plans.
• Review military and industry specifications, create screening requirements, and manage Non‑Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPAR).
• Perform laboratory work following standard operating procedures and support contracted test labs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10‑15 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and interfacing with NASA customers.
• Strong understanding of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for spaceflight applications.
• Ability to prepare and analyze NASA Advisories, GIDEP alerts, and part failure investigations.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and ability to pass a government background check.

Required skills

• Component failure analysis and reliability theory.
• Accelerated reliability testing and destructive physical analysis (DPA).
• Knowledge of NASA and DoD EEE part specifications and standards.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, especially MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, and Outlook.
• Experience with parts qualification plans, screening requirements, and NSPAR documentation.
