About the role
The Electro Technical Officer (ETO) is responsible for the safe operation and routine maintenance of the vessel’s power, propulsion, auxiliary, and other electro‑mechanical and electronic systems. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed officer, the ETO follows a rotating schedule and travels to project sites as required.
Key responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain all electro‑mechanical and electronic systems in compliance with flag state, international, and company regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting under supervision, documenting work in the Vessel Management System.
- Manage consumable spares, mechanical stores, and tool inventories aboard the vessel.
- Report vessel maintenance status to the Chief Engineer and assign tasks to assistant engineering staff.
- Assist as a deckhand when needed, including handling heavy lines and operating winches.
Required profile
- Ability to handle stressful situations, follow the chain of command, and demonstrate strong responsibility and ownership.
- Physical fitness to meet “fit for duty” standards, including ability to work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lb, and operate in all weather conditions.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Vessel Management System for task planning and reporting.
- Experience in electro‑mechanical system maintenance and troubleshooting on marine vessels.
