Electrician / Electrical Systems Technician

About the role

Join 3M as an Electrician / Electrical Systems Technician in Hartford City, IN, where you will support a wide range of industrial process control equipment. You will work alongside engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable operation of critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair process sensing devices (humidity, speed, vacuum, pressure, level, weight, tension, flow, viscosity, etc.).
• Maintain entire industrial process control systems, including electronic, digital, analog, pneumatic, and mechanical components.
• Service electrical and pneumatic components on standalone production equipment and AC/DC motors and drives ranging from 0.25 HP to 300 HP.
• Perform PLC programming changes, back up electronic files, and update blueprints.
• Interpret engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, and equipment manuals to meet specified tolerances.
• Set up and operate precision testing and measuring instruments according to manufacturer specifications.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, following 3M safety rules and site work guidelines.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED (verified before start).
• Minimum three years of experience as an Electrical Technician in an industrial setting (private, public, government, or military).
• Willingness to work weekends, overtime, and holidays on a rotating crew schedule, both inside and outside the plant.

Required skills

• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and PLC programming.
• Knowledge of AC and DC drive controls.
• Proficiency with pneumatic, analog, and digital electronics, including computer/microprocessor control systems.
• Basic mathematics and basic computer skills.
