Electrical Engineer – Radio Frequency (RF) Systems

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a senior Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) systems to drive research, development, and integration of RF communications and sensing solutions for autonomous surface vessels. The role will focus on marine‑environment RF challenges, supporting situational awareness and vessel networking.

Key responsibilities

• Lead R&D efforts in RF communications, radar, and electronic sensing for autonomous vessels.
• Evaluate, benchmark, and select RF hardware (radios, antennas, signal‑processing modules) across VHF/UHF, L/S/C/X bands.
• Conduct trade studies of commercial and military‑grade RF solutions.
• Design, prototype, and test RF subsystems, including cabling, shielding, and power interfaces.
• Model and analyze RF propagation and link performance in maritime and littoral environments.
• Collaborate with autonomy, software, and mechanical teams for seamless system integration.
• Develop test procedures, execute validation trials, and document performance results.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the RF technology roadmap.
• Support field testing and vessel trials, troubleshooting communication and radar systems.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of professional experience designing, testing, and integrating RF systems, preferably in maritime, automotive, aerospace, or defense.
• Strong understanding of RF theory, antenna design, and marine signal propagation effects (multipath, attenuation).
• Hands‑on experience with RF instrumentation such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
• Proven ability to conduct trade studies and technology benchmarking.
