Educator Ethics Investigator (State Government)

About the role

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission seeks an Educator Ethics Investigator to conduct investigations of alleged misconduct by public educators, ensuring the state’s education workforce remains ethical and qualified.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate reports of criminal conduct, ethical violations, and policy breaches by educators, gathering documentation, testimony, and physical evidence.
• Prepare comprehensive investigative files and reports, coordinate with the Attorney General’s Office on appeals, and testify in administrative proceedings.
• Maintain a good driving record for required in‑state travel and comply with background‑check requirements.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with at least three years of related investigative experience, or equivalent experience at a lower‑level position.
• Bachelor’s degree and three years of full‑time criminal, civil, or administrative investigation experience are preferred.
• Current or prior Georgia POSTC law‑enforcement certification, or comparable certification, and completion of FLETC Criminal Investigator training.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal background check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Justice Information System.
• Completion of FLETC Criminal Investigator training.
