About the role
The Georgia Department of Education is hiring an Educator Development Specialist to lead state and district‑level initiatives that enhance teacher recruitment, retention, and continuous growth. This role integrates instructional design and educational technology to build competency‑based learning models, high‑impact performance tools, and professional development frameworks. Working across regional and state networks, the specialist partners with administrators, school leaders, and key stakeholders to deliver data‑driven, sustainable educator development pathways. The position is a remote field role requiring travel within assigned regions.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable, technology‑enhanced professional learning solutions aligned with adult learning theory and state standards.
- Deliver targeted technical assistance, coaching, and workshops to help school systems deploy effective instructional practices.
- Evaluate emerging instructional technologies and evidence‑based practices to modernize educator training and performance evaluation tools.
- Leverage educational technology platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and interactive media to deliver engaging, accessible, hybrid professional development programs.
- Collaborate with district and school staff to provide job‑embedded support through observations, lesson studies, and peer observation.
- Provide individual and team consultation to adapt professional development to educators’ learning needs.
- Assess program efficacy and use data to propose local adjustments to methods and objectives.
- Promote a collegial culture by fostering an environment of service, trust, and respect.
Required profile
- Master’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited college or university.
- Experience modeling effective teacher behavior to adult learners in various instructional settings.
- Knowledge of recruitment and retention initiatives for educators.
- Experience speaking and leading presentations to large groups.
- High school diploma/GED and seven years of program management experience, or two years of experience at the Education Program Specialist 3 level (EDP032) or equivalent.
