Education Specialist – Mild/Moderate K‑8

About the role

The Education Specialist provides comprehensive academic services to K‑8 students with mild to moderate disabilities, working under the direction of the Directors of Special Education. The role supports inclusive instruction in general education classrooms and collaborates with teachers, related service providers, and families.

Key responsibilities

• Manage student IEPs, develop goals, monitor progress, and ensure all IEP deadlines are met.
• Assist general education teachers in adapting curriculum, creating schedules, and implementing Universal Design for Learning.
• Provide consultation, training, and ongoing support to school site teams, parents, and related service providers.
• Deliver direct instruction and remediation for students with disabilities, using specialized methodologies and behavior‑management strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree meeting credential requirements and a current California teaching credential for exceptional needs.
• At least one year of experience supporting children with disabilities, preferably with certification in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
• Ability to pass fingerprint clearance, TB test, and complete required training (CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment).
