About the role

Cell Press is launching a new, high‑impact journal dedicated to biotechnology research. As Editor‑in‑Chief you will shape the journal’s vision, build its reputation, and lead an editorial team to deliver world‑leading science.

Key responsibilities

• Define the journal’s aims, scope, formats and overall editorial strategy.
• Attract top‑tier manuscript submissions by leveraging a strong network of leading researchers.
• Travel to conferences and research institutes to engage with the scientific community.
• Recruit, manage and mentor in‑house editorial staff.
• Oversee rigorous peer‑review processes to ensure high scientific quality.
• Collaborate with Cell Press operations, marketing, and press teams, and contribute to broader publishing strategy.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in biotechnology research and a broad interest across the journal’s scope.
• Extensive international network of researchers in biotechnology.
• Ability to influence and engage the scientific community.
• Conceptual and critical thinking on a wide range of scientific issues.
• Strong organizational and project‑management capabilities.
