Echo Sonographer – Pediatric Hospital & Clinic (Weekend PRN)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an Echo Sonographer to provide individualized, direct patient care in a pediatric hospital and clinic setting on weekends. The role involves performing a variety of cardiac ultrasound procedures and delivering high‑quality diagnostic information.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, instruct, and educate patients on sonographic procedures.
• Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound studies, including 2D/M‑Mode, Doppler, Color Flow, Exercise Stress Echo, and Dobutamine Stress Echo.
• Document findings, compile patient history, and present preliminary results.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment readiness.
• Assist attending physicians with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
• Continuously update clinical knowledge, technical skills, and maintain required certifications.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; preferred 1 year cardiac ultrasound experience.
• Active RDCS registry (ARDMS) or RCS registry (CCI) within 6 months of completing a 12‑month clinical experience period.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics.
• Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to flexible weekend schedules.
