Director, Safety Data Science

About the role

The Safety Analytics team within Global Medical Safety is seeking a Director to lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning solutions that improve medical safety decision‑making and operational effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement analytical, AI, and machine learning solutions that support Global Medical Safety objectives.
• Lead projects and cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable analytical products, platforms, and decision‑support capabilities.
• Establish data assets, pipelines, models, dashboards, and applications that enable data‑driven decision making.
• Shape the direction of Safety Analytics, AI, and Data Science within Global Medical Safety and promote adoption of emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
• Significant experience leading advanced analytics, machine learning, AI, or data science initiatives in healthcare or medical safety.
• Proven ability to build end‑to‑end analytical solutions from data acquisition through deployment and business adoption.
• Experience presenting scientific work to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL.
• Expertise in statistical methods, predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and large language models.
• Understanding of cloud‑based analytical architectures and modern MLOps/CI‑CD practices.
• Knowledge of regulatory expectations, validation principles, and responsible AI governance.
