Director, RF Systems Engineering

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Director of RF Systems Engineering to lead the development, integration, and optimization of advanced RF power delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The role combines deep technical expertise in RF engineering and plasma processing with leadership of cross‑functional engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical vision for RF subsystems, including generators, matching networks, filters, diagnostics, ICP source designs, and power distribution.
• Partner with process and productivity teams to optimize plasma ignition, RF coupling efficiency, process uniformity, and wafer‑to‑wafer repeatability.
• Lead RF system integration across platforms, manage supplier relationships, and resolve complex RF, electrical, and plasma issues.
• Drive innovation by evaluating emerging RF technologies, sponsoring proof‑of‑concept projects, and presenting strategies to executive leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field with 15+ years experience, or Master’s with 12+ years, or PhD with 10+ years in semiconductor capital equipment.
• Proven ability to lead technical organizations, influence cross‑functional teams, and deliver products from concept to production.
